the everyday with a twist – michael beitz

sculpture, urban and landscape

Michael Beitz is a sculptor who takes everyday items or ideas, and through simple – and often humorous – interventions, makes us take a second look.

Rethinking the ordinary is a simple tactic Beitz employs in order to get us to think about the objects that surround us in our day to day lives, to question that which we take for granted, and to think through the ordinary with a new, extraordinary perspective.

Using these readymade or everyday objects, Beitz applies simple techniques such as twisting, elongating, piling up, fusing or bending, to create unique sculptures that talk of our relationships with the objects and built environments around us.

Thanks to This is Colossal for the inspiration!

And here he is in action…
