reclaimed design – nothing but the kitchen sink

architecture, design

Rotterdam based studio 2012 Architecten have created a unique pop-up reclaimed structure, whose façade is made entirely of old steel kitchen sinks. Built in cooperation with Jeanneworks, the Recycloop is a multi-purpose space designed for cultural activities, and has sprung up so far in Utrecht, Vlaardingen and Amsterdam.

Being open-topped and having no inbuilt amenities, the structure has no specific purpose and is thus envisioned as a place of community gathering and spontaneous creativity. Its possibilities for use are endless, as is the potential for the design to be expanded and integrated with existing buildings.
